Arnaud’s first curry (or ‘Ooops!’)

(not the actual camote soup)Cécile’s in the jungle this week, so we decided on Sunday to go for a nice lunch in one of our favourite restaurants here for a power building steak. Arnaud’s teeth aren’t quite up to steak yet though so we ordered him an innocuous looking camote soup (sweet potato). The food arrived, all tasted lovely, especially Arnaud’s dish which had a hint of something we couldn’t quite work out. Arnaud loved it. He hadn’t had his usual huge portion of porridge for breakfast and was obviously still hungry. About half way through, I had another taste and worked out the spice - curry. Not a tricky flavour to distinguish, but it was very subtle. Surely subtle enough for Arnaud’s strong Peruvian stomach to handle!.. or so we thought!

A few hours later enjoying a Guinness in the Irish pub, all were merry, until the inevitable happened. Arnaud’s first curry poo! It hurt a lot, he cried a lot, and his poor little red bum is only just recovering now. Sorry Arnaud! We didn’t know. It didn’t tell us in the baby manual not to give babies curry! We’ll know better next time though - and warning to all those out there who didn’t know.

ps The photo isn’t the actual soup.

The big One

Saturday was little Arnaud’s big day. His 1st birthday party. He could hardly sleep the night before because of the excitement. He’d been looking forward to it since we’d told him in San Francisco, and he’d not seen his friends from school since he’d finished for summer holidays more than a month ago. So many people to see and so much to tell.

The big day. Everything was prepared; the music was ready, the cake and pastries collected from the shop, the balloon-arc set up, the pooh bear pinata filled with toys, the snacks laid on the table, all that was left was to wait for the guests. From 4pm they started to arrive until the place was full and it was time for the clown… who arrived late looking like he was suffering from the night before! He stood around for a while looking glum, but then once he got going doing his clown thing, the kids all started to have fun, the parents joined in and the party was under way. Arnaud had the most fun of all showing everyone his new found walking and dancing skills and even managed to stay awake until the last guest had gone.

I’ve put the photos on picasaweb as well as flickr this time just to try it out. Also, it seems that the picasa one does films too. Bonus. See them here - DJ Arno 1 and DJ Arno 2 from the party, and wow wow and walk in the woods from Yosemite.

Looking forward to visits from the UK! See you soon.

Holiday Snaps

Hello all. I’ve managed to gather together some pics from our trip to California at last. The quality and variety of the photos doesn’t do justice to the things we saw - it was all too hectic to remember to take photos at times, especially in LA and SF, hence the majority being in Yosemite. I’ll add names at some point so you know what you’re looking at.

Enjoy!
